National Night Out: Plans were developed for the
upcoming National Night Out using the Pitching Booth. We also discussed having an
alternative booth for times that we dont have the number of people required to set
up, take down, and staff the pitching booth or we want something easier/smaller. We
talked about a game using guns that shoot ping pong or tennis balls and a wooden board
with holes with different point values. We also discussed redesigning the pitching
booth so set up and take down would be easier. These ideas will be explored at
future meetings.
The plan for August 1 is as follows:
Dress: Boys will wear Class A uniforms (blue Cub
Scout shirt {or tan for Webelos}, with kerchief and hat) OR Class B (Cub Scout t-shirt
either version) and hat. We recognize that some parents/boys might not
want them to wear the Class A uniform, but we want them to stand out. Therefore, the
hat and t-shirt option was provided.
Schedule (Look for your Den for the 06-07 school year):
6:30 7:30 Webelo I (Includes set up time)
7:30 8:30 Bears, Wolves, Tigers
8:30 9:30 Webelo II (Includes take down
time)
Note the National Night Out is 7:00 10:00, but we
will not have our booth up the whole time, per the ages of our boys.
Pack Leadership: With the upcoming move by the
Russell family, several roles need to be reassigned. We looked at several
options. The current Assistant Cubmaster, Steve Corbin, is unable to assume the
Cubmaster role, per work and family obligations. He is able to continue as Assistant
Cubmaster and Tiger Den Leader. We agreed the Cubmaster needs to be a man and needs
to be someone with at least 1 year in scouting. We also agreed the Cubmaster does
not need to be from the Webelo II den as they will be leaving in March.
The following changes were agreed to after discussion:
Cubmaster Dale Buckles
Committee Chair Sally Kubiak
Charter Representative to be reassigned to a
resident of Barrington Place (Rita Polhemus and Jennifer ?? - new Tiger parents - were
discussed as possible candidates); this will be discussed further
Medical Officer Terri Leong (as this
goes well with Outings Representative)
Adopt-a-Spot representative to be
determined; Martin Nguyens mom was discussed as a option
The timing of the changes will be determined per the
Russells departure plans. We agreed that Dale would need to be involved in
Cubmaster activities to some degree prior to Jeffs last meeting so new families
would see Dale and Steve as active participants in this aspect.
We also agreed that we would have a goodbye celebration for the
Russells at their last meeting.
Training needs for people in these roles were discussed.
Carol will alert parents of training requirements and dates.
